If you have a small bathroom, you might think that there’s not much that you can do in the way of bathroom renovations to make it look and feel larger and more luxurious. After all, you’re stuck with the space you have, right? Well, yes and no.
You may only have a few square feet to work with in your bathroom, but there are quite a few bathroom renovations that Perth homeowners can do to add the visual and functional illusion of having more space and a more luxurious bathroom.
Christine Kobzeff has created a really great video with a lot of fantastic ideas for improving even the tiniest bathroom.
Let Some Light In
First, if you have a small bathroom, chances are pretty good that you don’t have a separate bathtub and shower stall. As a result, you’re going to have a shower curtain or screen running the length of your bathtub.
If your tub is installed along the exterior wall of the bathroom, it’s likely that you’ll have a window set in that wall to let in some natural light during the day. Unfortunately, thanks to your shower curtain, a lot of that light is blocked from the rest of the bathroom. So what can you do?
Christine opted to install two narrower shower curtains (like the ones you might install in a shower stall) instead of one long one. This way, she can pull back the curtains on either side of the tub and let some light in for a brighter look throughout the bathroom. Another option might be to go with a clear curtain, or you could install clear or frosted glass shower screens in Perth for the same effect.
Add Storage Without Taking Up Space
Another idea we love that Christine uses is the concept of floating shelves or bathroom cabinets in Perth. Having a small bathroom makes storage a challenge, especially when you’re looking for the best ways to store linens and toiletries.
Installing floating shelves lets you use the space over your toilet, on either side of your vanity, and other unused wall space to create attractive storage solutions. If you’re looking for a good spot for clean, folded towels, you can install a shelf up higher, near the ceiling, where you can place towels in an attractive display that’s also out of the way until you need them.
Create a Cohesive Palette
In this video, Christine also creates a very cohesive palette. She chose white with some grey accents, which is always a good option to brighten up a small space and make it look larger, but you can go with any colour you prefer. Just make sure that you go with a consistent palette so that everything matches or complements everything else.
One small detail we love is the idea of painting a flowerpot to match the rest of the bathroom. If you have a white bathroom, a terra cotta pot is going to look like an afterthought. If you paint it white, though, you’ll have a beautiful plant in the perfect setting for your bathroom.
