What to Consider When Looking for a Bathroom Spa

Nothing looks more appealing after a long hard day at work than your very own bathroom spa. You can soak away the troubles of the day while the jets massage your weary muscles.

Before you run out and purchase the first spa you see, there are a few things that you should consider first. Let’s take a good look at these luxurious bathroom additions.

The Shape

A bathroom spa tub can come in a lot of different shapes including oval, square, and rectangular. There are also corner tubs, and all of the different sizes can be large enough to accommodate two people.

Choosing a shape will come down to two things:

  1. Personal preference
  2. Bathroom size limitations

One of the best ways to decide which spa is the most comfortable is to sit in it. Visit the showroom in comfortable clothes, and climb into the bathroom spas that you are considering. See if it is comfortable.

Drop-In or Free-Standing

These two terms might be self-explanatory, but basically, the drop-in bathroom spa is “dropped” into its custom-built surround. The free-standing tub stands on its own without a surround.

Again, you will have to consider the size of your bathroom to make the decision between the two. When considering your space, don’t forget to account for your any water pumps, or air systems the jets may require.

Hot Water

Don’t forget to consider your hot water heater. If you have one that is on the smaller side, you may not want to get the bathroom spa that is big enough to fit two because you may not have enough hot water to fill it.

The Installation

You want to make sure that whoever is installing your bathroom spa knows what they are doing! There is a lot that goes into putting in this large tub, and a poorly done job can lead to a pretty expensive mishap.

For example, a free-standing tub requires antitipping brackets. Without them, the extra weight of your body and the water could cause your tub to tip over! You could wind up with an injury and a lot of damage to your bathroom.
